The Mayberry Café is a local treasure that is shared with visitors from far and wide. Not only is it known for the hearty portions of great-tasting food, the Café is also known for its nod to The Andy Griffith Show. It’s a pleasure to step back into a simpler time and the feelings of belonging to a place as comfortable as home. We are happy to share the stories of our special place, the people who made The Andy Griffith Show a national treasure, and the visitors who come through our doors and fall in love with The Mayberry Café, too.

Life just doesn’t get much better than Mayberry.

Originally Printed in the Indianapolis Star, reprinted with permission. “The Andy Griffith Show” was the 1960 television series that introduced America to Sheriff Andy Taylor, Opie and Deputy Barney Fife. The series ran for eight seasons, but the funny – and often poignant – events in the fictional North Carolina town have continued to be a cornerstone of middle Americana. Since 1989, Danville, Indiana has been home to the Mayberry Cafe. The cafe is a tribute to the classic show and to the heart warming food and people portrayed in Mayberry. “We went with the Mayberry theme because it was my husband’s all time favorite show. He always wanted to live in a place like Mayberry. And we’ve found the people in Danville are about as decent and loyal as you’d find in Mayberry”, said Christine Born who helps run the cafe with husband Brad. It is a family run operation with careful attention to details, just like Aunt Bee would expect. Their commitment to quality and community has led to an establishment that draws folks to Danville from far and wide. It is not only the theme though, that brings people in – the food is excellent and the staff of hand-picked employees that truly care – shows. With a menu big enough to suit all the tastes in Mayberry, even the pickiest of eaters will find plenty to choose from.
